Doylestown, PA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/27/2018 -- With over 30 years of experience in the legal field, Bucks County DUI defense lawyer Keith J. Williams guides Pennsylvania residents through all the required steps involved in the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) Program. This option is available to eligible first-time offenders arrested for non-violent crimes.
The main purpose of the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Program is to first offer the proper rehabilitation, and second, to dispose of the charges. These actions will in turn eliminate costly and time-consuming court proceedings. Not all cases or defendants are eligible for the ARD program, as there are a number of factors involved.
To begin, it is only first-time offenders who are eligible for the ARD program and the crimes committed must be non-violent. This includes DUI, retail theft, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, and the possession of a controlled substance, amongst others. Program participants must also successfully apply for admission before the deadline and not have already been convicted at trial.
Once accepted into the ARD program, and depending on the nature of the crime, participants will need to complete at least 10 hours of community service. They must also attend all court-ordered treatment and evaluation programs, as well as undergo a certain period of supervision that is similar to probation. If offenders fail to meet the criteria stipulated under the ARD program, they risk their cases being put back on the trial list.
Those in Warminster, PA, and nearby areas can contact DUI defense lawyer Keith J. Williams at 855-703-1134 today to learn more about the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Program.
